Student Clubs and Societies
At Yale-NUS, students learn and grow beyond the classroom.
Energetic and collaborative extracurricular engagement comes naturally when students live and study together. Journalism, broadcast media, visual arts, music, drama, debate, a capella, politics, fashion, gaming, adventuring, community service, juggling, architecture, public health, and indeed any interest, mainstream or avant-garde, can be explored in student-run clubs and societies supported by Yale-NUS.
Why should students invest their valuable time in extracurricular pursuits? Because at Yale-NUS, extracurricular activities deepen and extend your education. Take journalism, for example: the ability to write persuasively, with clarity and power, is essential in all fields. At Yale-NUS College, you can perfect your writing and shape campus culture as a contributor to student-run newspapers and magazines.
What about drama? Acting in dramatic productions enhances public speaking ability and presence – the inherent artistic value of theater, of course, should not be overlooked. Intramural sports are extremely popular at Yale and NUS and a principal means of inter-class bonding within Yale's residential colleges – the same will be true at Yale-NUS College.
Students participate in however many or few extra-curricular activities as they please. Do not be concerned if theater does not interest you – you can always create clubs and organizations to suit your interests.
