Financial Aid FAQ

1. Is there financial aid available for students?

Yes. Yale-NUS College will have a strong financial aid program. Merit scholarships will be given out to recognize the exceptional qualities of the best students in the College. Need-based aid will help to ensure that the College will always be accessible to talented students from the widest possible backgrounds. The College will admit all students on the basis of academic and personal qualities and without regard to their ability to pay.

2. Will applying for financial aid hurt my chances of admission?

Absolutely not. An applicant's ability to pay for a Yale-NUS College education is not considered during the admissions process. This policy is called "need-blind admission". Yale-NUS College is strongly committed to equality of opportunity, and need-blind admission ensures that the College will be open to students of personal and academic promise from all segments of society and all parts of the world. An application for financial aid has no effect on the admissions committee's decision. This policy applies to all candidates, regardless of their citizenship or residency.

3. Can I 'combine' bursaries or awards which I have received to reduce my need for Financial Aid?

Yes, you can reduce your need for Financial Aid if you have received any bursary or award. If you have received more than one bursary or award, we will consider them all in our review of your application.
